It is not possible to fully disable the eraser without disabling the other end of the pen as well due to how EMR works. The tablet only know if it is the normal tip or the eraser end once you touch the surface.

The Cintiq Pro 16 (2017) should come with the Wacom Link or the Wacom Link Plus adapter so you shouldn't need any extra cables.

To clarify, there are 3 possible firmware updates for the Intuos Pro. The Pen, Touch and Bluetooth firmware.
The latest versions for each are the following for the last release (September 2021) are the following:
Touch: 0.0.2.8
Pen: 1.52
Bluetooth: 1.35
